We are currently looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to be:
- A key member of the Operations team responsible for Environmental compliance
with local, state and federal laws and guidelines, generation and implementation
of safety guidelines, and an effective Emergency Response team
- Responsible for creating the “Safety Culture” at Nitronex that understands and values environmental compliance and drives the desire to go beyond the what is required by law.
- Willing to work with the HR Manager and others on the Ops team to design
and implement an effective training program that covers the multiple levels
of safety training tailored to the variety of jobs in the organization
- Able to establish and continually strengthen the ties with local and state
officials ensuring a solid and positive relationship with the community.
Essential Functions:
- Will review current permits and ensure compliance to local, state and federal
laws and guidelines for all areas of the business including, but not limited
to the handling and storage of hazardous materials, the disposal of hazardous
materials, the transport and storage of these materials; the RF energy used
in the test areas, the neutralization and discharge of waste water to the
city sewage system; the function and direction of an Emergency Response team
for all Nitronex Corporation sites
Will work with the facilities group to ensure that the proper permits and inspections are performed when work is being done at any Nitronex Corporation site
Will review and enforce Lock Out Tag Out procedures to be used in all Nitronex Corporation facilities
Review existing safety systems and create new programs to fill voids - Review and recommend additional safety systems to ensure safety compliance for all areas of the facility. Will recommend safety systems that exceed requirements and perform cost benefit analysis for presentation to management
- Instill the discipline needed to be a successful manufacturing company in the 21st century
- Primary contact for ISO 14000 certification
- Create and maintain records for safety systems for all groups at Nitronex
Create and maintain and MSDS repository and ensure that it is accurate and up to date
Be the point of contact on EH&S issues - Maintain close control of chemical storage, inventory and chemical use levels for all operations and keep records of the same
- Responsible for working with hazardous waste disposal, including documenting manifests for all shipments of hazardous waste to a third party handler/disposer. Will be actively involved in oversight of such transporters and disposers to ensure that waste generated by Nitronex Corporation facilities and operations is handled in a manner consistent with the hazards associated with the material and that all local, state and federal laws and guidelines are being met.
- Will interface with insurance carrier to ensure our compliance with contracts and policies carried by Nitronex Corporation and to supply information to management on the state of such.
- Maintain industry ties to stay current on practices and guidelines to
make sure that Nitronex is aware of trends in the industry and changes
in current practices
Put in place protocol to ensure safe start up of new tools or tools coming back on line following major repairs
Put in place protocol to add EH&S to signoff on any capital equipment
Force compliance of suppliers to UL, NFPA and other regulatory bodies
Develop safety metrics – chart, track and present
Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering, Physics or related field of study. MS degree
is preferred, but not required
- 10+ years in EH&S in semiconductor industry exhibiting progressively
increasing responsibility
- 8-10 years of experience with compliance and safety systems, training, record
keeping and involvement with authorities
- Previous experience with the liquid pyrophorics, gas safety, and operation
of an ERT from semiconductor arena is required
- Effective communication and inter-personal relationship skills at multiple
organizational levels is also required
- The ideal candidate will have experience in yield improvement, Six Sigma
training and an understanding of lean manufacturing techniques
- Experience conducting an initial ISO certification and ISO 14000 experience with certification would be a big plus
