MMIC Design Engineer (MDE1107)

Summary
This position will be responsible for the design of GaN-on-silicon based microwave MMIC products. Responsibilities include translating product specifications to final circuit designs and layouts, developing test plans, carrying out laboratory tests, and writing reports. The range of possible products includes LNAs, PAs, switches, and mixers.
Essential Functions
- Experience in the design of MMIC power amplifiers, especially at X-band
- Familiarity
with laboratory microwave test equipment and test procedures,
including wafer probers - Familiarity with MMIC processing technology
Desirable Capabilities
- Advanced PA architectures, including Class-D
- MMIC mask layout
- Test fixture design
Requirements
Candidate will hold a minimum of a BS degree in electrical engineering (MSEE preferred), have had “hands-on” experience with MMIC design in GaN or GaAs for at least 5 years and have U. S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status. Experience with high power and high efficiency amplifiers is required.
In addition, candidate should have experience with the following:
- Proficiency with ADS or MWO
- Understanding of non-linear FET and passive element modeling
- Solid understanding of active microwave circuit design, including stability
- Familiarity with operation of RF test equipment such as load-pull setups, network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, etc.
